The Boat Builder við Ánna will become an Economusee during 2014. Meanwhile you can already visit and see the boat builder Johan Andreas Olsen and his son in the workshop, building small traditional Faroese boats.
Johan Olsen is one of the few remaing boat builders in the Faroe Islands. His father and his grandfather were also boat builders. Johan Olsen has his work shop in the easthern part of Tvøroyri, which is one of the larger villages on Suðuroy. One of he boats which Johan Olsen has built is Naddoddur, which also is a tourist attraction.
The goal of the boat builder Economusée is to provide visitors the opportunity to see and experience the history and tradition of the Faroese boat builders. But beyond that, it will be possible to sail with the boat in the beautiful area around Tvøroyri where the workshop is located.
Opens as an Économusée in 2014! Before then, contact the artisan for opening hours.
