Erpsstaðir Creamery ÉCONOMUSÉE®

Erpsstaðir Creamery ÉCONOMUSÉE®

Rjómabúið Erpsstaðir/ Erpsstaðir Creamery is a family run dairy farm where honesty and transparency are the foundation of the production. On the farm, the milking cows live in the best possible conditions. Under the same roof, the farmers diligently produce their products with the aim of opening up new dimensions in the experience of dairy products and at the same time honouring old traditions.

Rjómabúið Erpsstaðir is one of few producers who produce the skyr today in the traditional way. Skyr is made of skim milk and has been part of the Icelandic diet since the country was settled in 9th century. Slow food Presidium has been established for Traditional Icelandic Skyr and is Erpsstaðir Creamery one of its members. At the creamery you can learn about how it is produced, the saga of skyr, taste skyr and some byproducts made from skyr. Guests are welcomed throughout the year, invited to taste and buy skyr. At predetermined times short courses on traditional skyr making are provided.
